ALBANY, GA (WALB) – Special Olympians from across the state are being invited to a bowling tournament in Albany. The first ever Master's Bowling Invitational will be held here in July.

Nearly 200 athletes will be allowed to participate. To be eligible, they must 22 years or older and be a registered athlete with Special Olympics Georgia.

"We think it's important to offer recreational needs to all of our citizens in Dougherty County and traditionally, we offer baseball, softball, basketball, sports which aren't necessarily friendly to people who have limited abilities," said Suzanne Davis.

Charles White with Special Olympics Georgia said, "As anybody that's ever been involved in sports knows, that practice is a crucial part, but the competing aspect of it is the draw, so it's going to be an exciting day to have everybody here from around the state to compete."

Signup for the tournament is on a first come, first serve basis. You can find out more by going to the Special Olympics website.
