Lowndes County Sheriff Chris Prine has released the following statement:

On February 9, 2010 the Special Operations Division of the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office received information that Eddie Ray Ledbetter Jr, {DOB: 02-01-01969} who was being sought by this agency for outstanding warrants for the offenses of Violation of probation, Burglary and Terroristic Threats, was located at 108 Willow Lane in Echols County.

Investigators from the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office and the Echols County Sheriff's Office went to the residence.  During the attempt to serve these warrants Ledbetter fled the home through a window and ran into nearby woods.

Several deputies gave chase and later apprehended Ledbetter after being tracked by the Georgia Department of Corrections K-9 unit.  Ledbetter violently resisted arrest but was taken into custody.

A search of the home, from which Ledbetter had fled, was conducted and all of the occupants were arrested after a quantity of methamphetamine was discovered.  Arrested was Mary Amanda Griffis {DOB: 10-03-1969}, Shawn Harmon Barrett {DOB: 03-02-1974}, Craig Steven Setzer {DOB: 07-19-1959}, and Amy Jean Claypool {DOB: 09-24-1980}.

Ledbetter, in addition to the aforementioned charges, now faces an additional charge of possession of methamphetamine.  All of the other named person have been charged with the possession as well.

After the discovery of the narcotics, agents from the South Georgia Drug Task Force were notified and responded to the scene.  That agency is conducting the investigation into the drugs.  Assistant Special Agent in Charge Jamy Steinberg can be contacted at 229-482-3109 for additional information.

This investigation is ongoing and additional arrest are possible.
