Dougherty County--Employees at the Albany Marine Base may have to leave earlier Tuesday to get to work on time.
The base is closing it's Johnson Road Gate at the rear of the base Tuesday. A new sentry building will be built at the Johnson Road Gate. One of the busiest gates to the base, half of it's 3000 employees use it daily.
Starting Tuesday, the base will reopen it's Mock Road gate to cars with current decals.
Public Affair Chief, Gunnery Sgt. Sean Wright said "The Mock Road Gate will be open for incoming traffic only from 6 AM to 8:30 AM. And for outgoing traffic only from 3 PM to 6 PM. We encourage everyone to leave a little early, especially Tuesday morning."
Base employees will also be able to use the Main Gate and the Truck Gate on Fleming Road when entering and leaving the base. The Johnson Road Gate is expected to re-open in August.
