VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) –The man accused of shooting and wounding his daughter and her mother at their Valdosta home Monday is in jail in Virginia Tuesday night awaiting extradition to Georgia.

Authorities picked up 38-year-old Roy Smith around 4 this morning at a Chesterfield County, Virginia home. He's accused of shooting 16-year-old Rochelle Smith and 37-year-old Josephine Lonon Monday morning at their home on Branch point Drive. Smith served time in prison on drug charges.

"As part of his parole he was allowed to move to Virginia part of his agreement was that he'd sign forms waiving extradition if something were to happen so that might make it easier to get him back to Georgia," said Valdosta Police Lt. Aaron Kirk.

It could a couple of weeks to get Smith back to Valdosta. He's charged with two counts of aggravated assault.
