ALBANY, GA (WALB) – The Dougherty County School Board hoped to find a way to offset more state funding cuts other than more furloughs, but they agreed tonight unpaid time off is the only answer.

Monday night, they set the furlough days for February 18th, March 12th, and May 25th.

Governor Sonny Perdue called for three more unpaid days this school year to deal with the growing budget crisis.

The move is expected to save the Dougherty County system around $1.6 million.
