TIFT COUNTY, GA (WALB) – Two teenage brothers were killed Sunday in Tift County when their car was hit by a train.
It happened just before 11 o'clock on Golden Road. Preliminary investigation shows the driver of the Nissan Sentra tried to cross the tracks while the train was approaching.
The caution gate was down. Troopers say the Nissan was traveling east on Golden road and the train was traveling north. The train hit the passenger's side.
Authorities have identified the victims as 17-year-olds Austin Dawson and 15-year-odl Alton Dawson.
A third brother, also a passenger was transported to the hospital.
