Tornado victims get tetanus shots

March 23, 2003

Mitchell County- Mitchell County Health department workers are making sure volunteers and residents are safe as they clean-up debris and trash.

Health department workers have been traveling around giving Mitchell County residents and volunteers tetanus shots since the tornado. Because volunteers are moving rusted materials and nails, health workers say if they are infected, they could get lockjaw.

Health Department workers will continue giving tetanus shots next Saturday. You can also go to the Mitchell County Health Department office to get a free shot.
