ALBANY, GA (WALB) – A Dougherty Superior Court Judge Denise Marshall ruled this afternoon that the Dougherty County School System must halt its superintendent hiring process.
WALB, WFXL, and the Albany Herald filed suit this afternoon against the school system over the hiring process.
The board voted 4-3 yesterday to move forward with its job offer to Joshua Murfree, who was ranked near the bottom of the three-dozen candidates for the post.
Dozens of citizens packed the board's meeting room Wednesday to speak out on the hiring process.
Judge Marshall set March 1 as the date for an evidentiary hearing in the matter.
