ALBANY, GA (WALB) – You can re-direct some of your income taxes to help students go to private school.
A program called 'Georgia Goal' provides scholarships to schools such as Deerfield Windsor. Last year, the school collected $261,000 in scholarship money through the program.
A joint-filing couple can redirect up to $2,500in Georgia income taxes. You can even designate which private school you want to get the money. It will help students who might otherwise not be able to afford private school.
"I think this will allow us alone at Deerfield to help between 15 and 20 students come here next year who wouldn't otherwise be able to," said Deerfield Windsor Headmaster Dave Davies.
You must receive Department of Revenue approval to participate in the program.
