SYLVESTER, GA (WALB) - Baseball coaches can never find enough left-handed pitching.
Darton College has found a pitcher they believe has an outstanding future ahead of him.
Worth County pitcher Allen Fender signed with the Darton baseball team Monday morning at the school.
Fender is not only a southpaw but he is also tall and right now has a fastball in the mid 80's.
Last season he struck out 75 batters and walked only 26 with four complete games.
Worth County baseball coach Will Smith believes Allen will continue to get better with each season.
Allen is just happy to have this decision behind him so he can play ball this spring.
Allen Fender said. "Feel pretty good. Just wanted to get this off my chest. Just had to sign early and get a lot of pressure off."
Worth Co. baseball coach Will Smith said. "With some more tweaking on his mechanics which I will sure will happen with natural growth and development, his upside looks pretty good."
Worth County will celebrate the 100th season of baseball at Pope Park when the Rams open the 2010 season February 22nd against Turner County.
