Dougherty School Board will meet over superintendent this week

ALBANY, GA (WALB) –  The Dougherty County School Board is expected to call a special meeting late this week to talk about the hiring of a new School Superintendent.

There are three ways that meeting could be called if a majority of the board calls for the meeting, if an emergency arises, or if the chairman calls the meeting.

Board member Michael Windom sent chairman David Maschke an email asking him for a meeting to reconsider the choice of Dr. Joshua Murfree.

Murfree was named the sole finalist for the job last week, but questions later arose after WALB learned the Georgia School Board Association ranked Murfree 34th out of 37 applicants.
