CORDELE, GA (WALB) – Cordele police are searching for a man who shot and killed a woman; it's the city's first murder this year.

The victim is 26-year-old Tasha Grant.

She was shot in the kitchen of an Apartment on North Second Street.

Police were called to the scene around 3:30 pm Saturday.

Preliminary investigation show the shooting may be a result of a domestic issue.

Police say they have leads from witnesses as to who the suspect is.

"When officers arrived they found Tasha Grant with a gunshot wound to the head, nobody else was there at the house, but we've got some witnesses nearby that saw some stuff," said Chief Dwayne Orrick, Cordele Police Department.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is helping with the case.
