SUMNER - A school bus driver is to blame for a wreck that sent two people to the hospital Thursday afternoon. Linda Gail Leaford was driving the Worth County special education bus. She had dropped off all but one student when she tried to cross Highway 82 near Sumner. Her bus ended up face down in a ditch.
"She stopped and crossed over there," Darrell Watson, Worth County Transportation Director, said. "Of course it was pouring down rain, so she didn't see anything coming. She got almost across and got hit in the back.
The 12-year-old student was treated by paramedics and released to his parents. The driver of the mustang, John Shealey, and his passenger were taken to the hospital.
