Couple returns home after sewage spill

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -  An Albany couple is moving back into their home after raw sewage caused damaged that forced them out for eight weeks.

We've followed Linda and Fred Freeney's progress the last couple of months. They've moved in their furniture and clothes after major renovations to their home on Forest Glen Drive.

They still have a lot of boxes to unpack, but they say they're glad to be back in what seems like a brand new home.

"We just hope to spend a lot of time here and it will all be fixed up nice, "Linda Freeney said. " We will have no more smell and no more contamination."

As a city crew was fixing a sewer line problem near the Freeney's home, sewage spewed out of their toilets and tubs and covered the home in muck. They say the city is handling repair costs.
