ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Former Westover High football standout  Aairon Savage will get one more season with the Auburn football team.

Aairon Savage notified his family Thursday afternoon the NCAA has approved his request to play a sixth year,

Savage has not played a game for Auburn since the 2007 season.

He missed the 2008 season with a knee injury suffered in August practice.

Then Savage suffered an Achilles injury during summer workouts last June.

The NCAA will allow an extra season of competition for athletes who have missed all or virtually all of a season due to injury and that athlete is on track to graduate or has already received their degree.

Aairon Savage started 14 games in his first two seasons at Auburn where he already has a degree in Exercise Science.
