ALBANY, GA (WALB) –  The Census is kicking into gear in Southwest Georgia.

Our region's Census headquarters officially opened Tuesday night. There was an open house at the new office that will serve 25-counties.

It will be bustling the next few months with employees working to help the Census Bureau collect needed information.

"The work load is massive. It's not only the population but the geography that we have to encompass to do our work here and to search and look for everybody because our job is to count everybody within these 25 counties," said Albany Census Office Manager Don Gray.

You can help out by filling out your Census form as soon as you get it. They'll start arriving in the mail in March. If you don't fill it out, a Census worker will have to visit your home.

The Albany Office is still hiring employees. You can apply at 2500 Dawson Road.
