When a local player comes along that can help the national junior college powerhouse, Veilands wants them to sign with Darton.
The Darton women's soccer program signing one of the top players in south Georgia in Taylor Benton.
The center-midfielder led the Lady Jackets to their first region title last year and was named the region player of the year.
She was the team's leading scorer last season and has scored more than 50 goals and assisted in more than 60 other goals heading into her senior season.
Taylor has also played on several traveling teams in south Georgia and north Florida.
She is looking forward to joining the Lady Cavs in the fall.
Taylor Benton said. "I am excited to be going and to get the college experience. So that I can look back and say that I actually accomplished it and went on to the next level."
Ken Veilands said. "We are thrilled to death to get her at Darton. I think she is going to do a great job. She is a great student and a great player. She is enthusiastic and the kind of kid we really want."
The Thomas County Central soccer team will open their season February 23rd.
