MOULTRIE, GA (WALB) – One man was killed when several gunshots rang out in a Moultrie neighborhood Monday night.

It happened around 7 o'clock in the 800 block of Joe Louis Avenue. That's near M L King Jr. Drive.

Police say three men knocked on the door of a home. When they got no answer, they went to the back of the home where two of the residents were in the backyard.

One of the suspects pulled a gun and demanded money. During a fight, at least three gun shots were fired killing one of the robbery victims. The suspects then ran.

Police say the home was likely targeted.

"Many Hispanics stay in the home and there's a perception that they carry large amounts of cash and sometimes that's not the take on it," said Commander Alfonzo Cook with Moultrie Police.

Police are looking for three dark-skinned black men, possibly teenagers. Two of them were wearing black hooded sweatshirts. The other was wearing a white hooded sweatshirt. All are around 5'8".

If you have information that could help solve the case, call Moultrie Police.
