ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Westover's ten point loss at Crisp County last Friday raised some eyebrows around region 1-AAA.
But for the Westover Patriots, the loss may serve as a wake up call.
The Patriot players had players only meeting before their practice Monday night.
Senior Chris Wheeler says the meeting wasn't just about the loss to the Cougars.
He says the team's poor play started before the Crisp County game and the theme of the meeting was it is time to get back to Westover basketball.
Patriots coach Dallis Smith would like to see that since the Patriots have two tough home games this week in the region against Perry and Dougherty on Friday.
Chris Wheeler said. "The first three games we won by like 40. Now we are in dogfights in every game. We are winning by 2 and 3 points and that is just not Westover."
Dallis Smith "This region is a tough region. You cannot overlook anyone because every night you have to come ready to play."
Coach Smith says Onochie Ochie may get cleared to play next week.
Ochie has been out for over three weeks since collapsing on court against Monroe.
Westover hosts 1-AAA foes Perry on Tuesday and Dougherty on Friday.
Patriots play 1-A Terrell County Saturday night in Dawson.
