ALBANY, GA (WALB) –An Albany man pleads guilty to attacking a female jailer.

38-year old Darrell Cross was supposed to go on trial Monday.

Instead, he pleaded guilty to riot in a penal institution, obstruction, and removal of an officer's weapon. He was sentenced to five years in prison.

In September 2007, Cross attacked a Dougherty County jailer and took her pepper spray during the fight.

He was arrested and has been awaiting trial for more than two years.
