ALBANY, GA (WALB) -  The death of an inmate at Valdosta State prison is now under what authorities are calling a heavy investigation. The inmate was found early Friday morning.

WALB doesn't  don't know how the inmate died but the Lowndes County Coroner says foul play may be a factor.

The crime lab in Atlanta performed an autopsy. The results are still under investigation.

In the past few months there have been other violent incidents at Valdosta State Prison including a stabbing in October.
