Albany -- The city of Albany will make its pitch to become the host the S.I.A.C. Conference's College Basketball Tournaments.

Albany State is a member of the 11 school S.I.A.C. Conference. The tournament has been played in Birmingham but Albany is trying to lure it away. The Conference Commissioner will tour Albany Thursday and Friday.

Chamber of Commerce President Tim Martin said "It will be a wonderful opportunity. For us to tell our story about Albany and Southwest Georgia to members of the S.I.A.C. Certainly it will impact our local economy, and we're excited about that opportunity."

The S.I.A.C. is considering a three year contract with Albany, hosting both the men's and women's tournaments in 2004, 2005, and 2006.
