ALBANY, GA (WALB) – Byne Memorial Baptist Church is "Celebrating a Century of Faith."

It was organized in 1910, and for one hundred years the church has given thousands of Albany residents a church home.

The celebration began Sunday morning with a service and ended with lunch.

Past and current members, as many as one thousand were expected at the church to take part in the celebration.

"Community is huge for us; we're all about serving the community. We think God has been faithful to Byne Church through this century because we've been a mission minded outward focused church, that's the rich heritage that Byne has," said Pastor Matthew Nance, Byne Memorial Baptist Church.

Many pictures depicting the history of the church and its members were on display.

Since its inception Byne has had 18 pastors preside over its services.
