Tifton-- Businessman and University System Regent John Hunt has died. Hunt had a heart attack last weekend, he died Wednesday morning in a Jacksonville hospital, at the age of 63.
Hunt served on Georgia's Board of Regents since 1997. Before that he chaired the Stone Mountain Memorial Association and the Tifton Chamber of Commerce.
He was a former auto dealer, and was the operator of several Shoney's and Captain D's restaraunts, those will stay open today.
Funeral services are tenatively scheduled for Friday.
