ALBANY, GA (WALB) - While all the attention in high school basketball in Albany has been on the race on 1-AAA, the Albany High Indians are on a roll 1-AA.

The Indians have won six of their last seven games and are sitting in second place in the region standings.

They are one game behind first place Thomasville.

The Indians put their streak on the line against Mitchell County on Friday night.

The Eagles are a game behind Albany in third and beat the Indians by a point in Camilla in December.

Head coach Archie Chatmon says his team has improved their defense since that first meeting and that is what Chatmon says is Albany High basketball.

Archie Chatmon said. "I have always hung my hat on defense. Every team you get doesn't buy into it. Obviously, the kids have to want to play defense. I like this team because they want to play it."

Albany High hosts Mitchell County Friday with the girls game starting at 6:00 p.m. at the Albany High Gym.
