When you have won three national titles, it helps on the recruiting trail.
Darton golf coach Dale Dover continues to land the best players in south Georgia.
The Cavaliers golf team signed two players for next year's squad on Thursday.
One is Byne's Spenser Ferrell.
Ferrell was the medalist for the past three years at the G-C-A-A state golf tournament and he led the Saints to a state title his junior year which was the fall of 2008.
Darton also signing Austin McNeill from Coffee High in Douglas.
McNeill was the medalist at the region 1-AAAAA tournament his sophomore year and finished third in the region tournament last year.
He also won a tournament on the Georgia Junior Golf Tour in 2009.
Both players are excited about the chance to add to the tradition of the Cavalier golf program.
Spenser Ferrell said. "Going from a state championship team to a national championship team is pretty sweet. I will enjoy it here at Darton. It is local. I live right down the road. I know most of the golfers here and I know coach Dale Dover real well."
Austin McNeill said. "I have seen the rings and everything like that. It is a big deal. Getting a national championship or anything like that would be great."
This year's Darton golf team opens their 2010 spring schedule next weekend in Melbourne, Florida.
