Albany -- An Albany 6-month-old boy died early Monday morning. The mother's boyfriend is charged with his murder. 35 year old Johnny French has been arrested and charged with shaking and beating the infant.
At 3 A-M Monday at the Mabry Motel on North Slappey Boulevard the mother left the baby in the boyfriend's care while she went to the store. When she returned the baby was having trouble breathing. The baby was taken by ambulance to Phoebe Putney Hospital where he died.
Investigator Carmelita Preston said an autopsy showed the baby suffered internal injuries. District Attorney Ken Hodges called the death of the baby "very disturbing. "
The 18-year-old mother has not been charged. The father lives in Atlanta. Johnny French is being held in the Dougherty County Jail without bond.
