Clowns encourage kids to get fit

ALBANY, GA (WALB) – There was a whole lot of clowning around Monday afternoon at the Albany YMCA, but with it a good message.

Dave and Cherie are clowns with the Ringling Bros. & Barnum and Bailey circus.  They'll put on two shows in Albany next month.

The clowns showed the kids some of their tricks and talked about the importance of being "CircusFit."  As clowns, they've got to be in top physical condition, and they encouraged kids to be active and fit.

"It's always important for anybody to stay fit whether you're two or 22, nine or 99. It's for children of all ages, quite frankly," said Dave Gregg.

"Good for the heart, good for the soul. Helps keep the body going and active. The younger you learn these lessons, the more it will carry through to the older life and give them a longer, healthy, happier life," said Cherie Gregg.

The circus will perform shows at the Albany Civic Center February 2nd and 3rd at 7 p.m.

You can get tickets at the Albany Civic Center box office or online.
