ALBANY, GA (WALB) – The government could be closer to a breakthrough on health care, but a large part of its success hinges on Massachusetts.

Some say Tuesday's election there to replace Senator Ted Kennedy, and one key vote could destroy what leaders say is almost a done deal.

U.S. senator Saxby Chambliss said democrats are making decisions behind close doors, instead of being transparent but says reform is needed.

"We need healthcare reform, one of the things we need to cover are pre-existing conditions, provide meaningful health insurance to all Americans, and put competition in the insurance industry by allowing the sale of policies across state lines," said Sen. Saxby Chambliss, (R) Georgia.

He continued to say they can come up with a bill in a short period of time that both democrats and republicans agree on, but it cannot come at the cost of tax increases or doing anything which cause premiums to rise.
