ALBANY, GA (WALB) –  A Moultrie burglary suspect fired on the homeowner and police before leading them on a day-long chase that ended in his arrest.

Jack Byrd the third is charged with two counts of aggravated assault and burglary.

Police say Byrd shot at the homeowner and Moultrie Police Officer Lynn Johnson Wednesday morning before running into a wooded area near the home at 16 Cherokee Road.

Police searched the woods and called in the Sheriff office's K-9 unit. Police tracked Byrd to his home where he was arrested. He's in the Colquitt County Jail.
