Georgia will not mail income tax booklets

By Jim Wallace - bio | email

ALBANY, GA (WALB) –As you get ready to do your taxes, don't expect one those individual income tax booklets in the mail this year.

To save money, the state will no longer mail them out.

The Georgia Department of Revenue mailed 550 thousand booklets out last year at a cost of more than a half million dollars. They say only 28 percent of the booklet forms were used to file returns.

The 2009 booklets have not been printed yet, and will not be available in revenue offices or libraries until late January. You can print off a copy at the Department of Revenue web site now.
