ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Darton College baseball coach Glenn Eames has some rebuilding work to do for the 2010 season.
The Cavaliers do return Tag Lanier who was the anchor of the team on the field and in the dugout.
Lanier is moving to first base with the transfer of catcher Freddy Garay from Truett-McConnell.
Garay was one of the top hitters in the region last year for the Danes.
On the mound, Darton's staff will be led by Jake Smith who turned down a pro contract to come back to the Cavaliers.
Coach Eames says Darton will need a strong staff to match an offense that is going to scratch across runs when possible.
Glenn Eames said. "We have to manufacture runs. In the fall, one thing we had was a lot of one basers- singles- a lot of singles. That is what we have got to do. We have got to make he singles count."
Darton opens their season on the road February 4th at CVCC.
