ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Albany Police catch a car thief red handed after he stole a car the owner left running in a store parking lot.

36-year-old Timothy Kelly of Leesburg is charged with motor vehicle theft. Police arrested him Tuesday morning on Phillips Drive in Albany, driving a stolen 2007 Chevy Avalanche.

Police say he stole Paul Senkbeil's truck outside the Fastbreak Food Store on Old Dawson Road.

Senkbeil left the truck running, while he went into the store. But that truck had On-Star, and Police used the GPS tracking service to find the car and arrest Kelly within minutes.

Police caution drivers not to leave their cars idling unoccupied, no matter how cold it is.
