Friday night gospel jubilee is a hit

March 14, 2003

Doerun- On a Friday night the house is almost packed at the Doerun Gospel Jubilee. Local musicians come together to sing for the Lord.

Some of the groups have traveled from as far away as Lamont, Florida to sing in the jubilee.

People came from Moultrie, Albany, and even Valdosta to hear the groups. One pastor says these kinds of events are important to the community because it gets the audience's mind off of negative things happening in the world and puts it on the Lord.

The owner of the building is allowing them use it rent free as long as they pay the utilities, something organizers say is a blessing from the Lord.

They have booked acts all the way up until July. The Gospel Jubilee is held every second Friday of the month at the Old Bill's Dollar Store in Doerun. Admission is free.
