ALBANY, GA (WALB) – It was a celebration of life for an Albany mentor who spent most of his years helping others.
Albany Recreation and Parks held Curt's "For the Kids" Extravaganza at the Henderson Gym.
It's in memory of Curtis Marshall, who was a Recreation Supervisor for the department for more than 20 years.
He mentored many kids over the years, including gang members.
A year ago he passed away and one of his favorite sayings was "It's For the Kids".
"This is for the kids, that's his famous saying, to give a helping hand and help each other along the way as they address issues in everyday life," Vincent Andrews.
Former NBA player Dontonio Wingfield, and local city officials also attended the event.
