ALBANY, GA (WALB) –  It has been a brutally cold week, and there's more to come this weekend. The arctic freeze isn't stopping people who work outside.

"Well it's cold out here right now, the past couple of days it's been cold," Dorothy Daniels.

As the sun started to set anyone outside could feel the cold arctic air.

"I have a jacket, coat, and gloves," said Daniels.

Daniels is a crossing guard, but on cold days like Friday, she's only out in the elements when she needs to be.

"I see a kid who wants to cross, I get out and let them cross and I get back into my car," said Daniels.

Construction worker Irenus Brown knows about staying warm, piling on clothes before he leaves in the morning.

"I put on most everything I have in the house," said Brown.

When handling construction equipment in freezing weather for hours dressing for the weather is his best advice.

"I have on two shirts, a sweater, and jacket," said Brown.

"This is the longest cold streak we've had in a while usually this only happens one day and then warms up but this time it had us," said Daniels.

From workers to those just trying to make a trip to the grocery store, the brisk walk to the car was a bit quicker fueled by the cold breeze.

"I was raised on a farm, on hot days or cold days you had to get up and go, so I take it as another days work," said Brown.

Another day working and living in a cold snap that may get worse before it gets better.
