LAKE PARK, GA (WALB) – A bank robbery in Lake Park, Georgia Fridays morning is the second time that bank's been hit in two months.

The man believed to have pulled off the holdup Friday is in custody.

45-year old Joel Jackson was arrested around 12:30 Friday\ in Clyattville for the robbery of the Park Avenue Bank. He's charged with one count of robbery by intimidation.

"Between 10:10 and 10:15 on this date, a white male entered the bank here at Lake Park and of course showed the teller a note stating it was robbery," said Lowndes County Sheriff Chris Prine.

Authorities did not find a handgun on Jackson but say he insinuated he had one to the teller. As you can see, the man was not masked. This is the pick-up truck he left in before he was picked up.

Just before four o'clock on November 12 this same bank in Lake Park was robbed. The suspect got away.

"The last suspect doesn't fit the same description of this suspect," said Prine.

Shelah Dawkins is a pharmacy technician at Chancy Drug Store that's behind the bank. "I heard just the commotion of people coming in and saying "hey the bank got robbed again.""

Having the same bank robbed twice in less than two months has stunned the community. "I feel bad for the bank employees because they had to deal with that twice," she said.

Doris Hooper works in Lake Park. She says this is an indicator that no one's safe.

"Everybody's susceptible to getting robbed, all small businesses," said Hooper. They're after money."

She's glad nobody got hurt and the crook was caught. "I'm happy because these people need to be off the streets," said Hooper.

"It's a small, small town," said Lake Park resident James Caesar. "You don't expect that."

The bank was closed for a few hours while investigators processed the scene. Officers recovered the money taken in Friday's robbery.
