By Stephanie Springer - bio | email ALBANY, GA (WALB) –School leaders in Turner county canceled school Friday because the cold weather.
Leaders say the decision was made earlier on Thursday, but the superintendent waited to see if the weather would change before he made the announcement.
School officials say there are fewer than 2,000 students in the Turner County school system.
"It's better to be proactive than reactive when you have a precious commodity like we have which is our kids," said Chairman Samuel Brown.
School officials say Monday school will back in full swing unless more bad weather comes this way.
