Technology growth ends jobs at Albany call center

ALBANY, GA (WALB) –  An AT&T Customer Service Center in Albany is eliminating about 75 jobs.

Communication Workers of America local 3210 was notified the layoffs would take affect March 20th. The employees who are losing their jobs work at the 411 customer information center. AT&T says there's not as big as need for that land line service anymore.

He says AT&T growth areas include wireless, broadband, and video business. Local union President Roger Todd says when service started there were more than 200 employees in the call center. They're working to find employees other jobs.
