ALBANY, GA (WALB) – Health officials are again stressing the need to get an H1N1 vaccine.
They hope more people will get vaccinated during National Immunization Week next week. They say there are still people in south Georgia hospitalized with the virus, and the number of cases nationwide is beginning to climb again. Health Officials are even surveying parents to find out if they got their child immunized over Christmas break.
"We're not concerned so much about where they got it but did they receive it and if there's a significant number that have not received it yet we're considering the possibility of offering it in some other locations to make sure that we make it more convenient for parents," said Brenda Greene, Southwest Georgia Health District Deputy Director.
Most health departments, doctor's offices, and pharmacies have some of the vaccine. Health officials say the number of Americans who get flu shots typically plummets after the holidays.
