LAKELAND, GA (WALB) –A Lakeland man charged with robbing a Hardee's on Sunday now faces more charges after he escaped.

24-year-old Jermaine Jackson was recaptured. He's now charged with escape and two counts of obstruction of officers.

Lanier County authorities say he used a paper clip bent like this to undo his handcuffs while an officer was placing another inmate in the back seat of a patrol car.

Jackson was being transported to the Lowndes County Jail after he was denied bond on Tuesday.

"He pushed the door against the transporting officer, knocking him off balance," said Capt. Mike Anderson, Lanier County Sheriff's Office. "He took off on foot ran for about approximately three or four blocks. Then we recaptured him."

Jackson was picked up off Highsmith Road. He was initially arrested on Sunday after investigators say he held up the Hardee's store manager at gunpoint in Lakeland.
