ALBANY, GA (WALB) – Albany's biggest loser isn't as big as he used to be.

Deputy EMA Director Jim Vaught, who used to weigh 457 pounds, has lost an average of five pounds a week since his weight loss surgery in September.

"So far I've dropped 75 pounds and I believe when I step on the scales next Wednesday, it will be another reduction," he said. " It seems to be working well, Christmas is just not conducive to a weight loss program."

Vaught has a goal of reaching his old fighting weight of 200 pounds, from when he was an active duty Marine.

He hopes to reach that goal by the end of next September.
