ALBANY, GA (WALB) –An Albany man wanted for armed robbery as caught Tuesday while trying to renew his driver's license.

Sheriff's and D.A. Investigators picked up 19 year old Kirby Spencer at the Department of Motor Vehicles on South Slappey this morning.

Spencer was wanted for an armed robbery, kidnapping, and aggravated assault from May 2008.

Cold case investigators say they uncovered evidence tying him to that robbery.

D.A. Investigator Greg Blackmon said "He actually went up and robbed a subject. He also robbed him with another known subject. That subject is charged with robbery and will be cooperating with us on testifying against this subject."

Spencer was tried for a similar armed robbery in 2008, and found not guilty. He is being held in the Dougherty County Jail.
