ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A lack of motivation won't be an issue for the Monroe Basketball team this week. The Tornadoes will take on all three Albany rival schools this week. First up will be Dougherty Tuesday followed by Westover on Friday and Albany on Saturday.
Monroe and Westover is the marquee match up on Friday with both teams off to perfect starts, but you won't catch the Tornadoes looking ahead.
"This is an easy week for me. Most of the time with the in town rivals the guys get up themselves but we can't lose focus because these first two games are definitely important to us because they are region games" said head coach Marquis Davis.
"It's a very hard week I mean we're just going one game at a time I mean we're not worried about what will happen Friday today. We've got a game Tuesday so we're worried about Tuesday's game" said center Brandon Johnson.
Davis is expecting his team to be challenged at Dougherty Tuesday night.
"They do play hard all the time. Coach Poole and his staff does a great job. They're some of the hardest playing guys I've ever seen" said Davis.
"We're gonna come with our A game. We know how Dougherty is we know what we've got to do to slow them down. You can't really stop them you just slow them down" said forward Robert Arnold.
The Monroe and Dougherty girls game tips off at 6:00 on Tuesday. The Boys game will follow.
