ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Thanks to bad business and broken promises the now defunct South Georgia Wildcats left a tarnished image of professional football in the good life city.
The Albany Panthers of the Southern Indoor Football League are South Georgia's newest pro team and they're focused on changing that image.
Former Wildcat Vice President Will Carter has been hired as GM of the Panthers.
Carter says his top priority is repairing the bad image.
"Obviously there's an image that needs to be repaired. A lot of businesses lost money in the past and didn't quite get the things that they were owed. So definitely want to take heave to that and repair the image and move things in a positive direction. You have to understand that this is a new ownership, new league, entirely different team. So we don't want to be held responsible for what has happened in the past but at the same time I was here and I understand where they're coming from" said Carter.
According to Carter the Panthers will have an official press conference in the next couple of weeks and the season opener will be played in late March.
