Albany -- A 12-year-old Albany boy is chased down by a gang of a dozen youths, and stabbed seven times. Two teenagers have been arrested, and investigators are looking for more of the gang members.

12-year-old Ikeem Kendrick, a 6th grader at Merry Acres Middle School, is recovering from surgery. At 11:15 Tuesday night, police found him lying here in the 12 hundred block of Avalon Avenue.

Investigators have arrested 18-year-old Javorie Gilyard and a 16-year-old boy, both of whom have been charged with the stabbing. Neighbors say a group of boys chased Kendrick down, beat him up and stabbed him.

No one is sure why he was attacked. Albany Police Lt. James Williams said "Not at this time. We have received some information. That it was possibly gang related. That's what we are looking into."

Investigators say they are seeking more teen-agers in connection with the stabbing. Kendrick reportedly suffered kidney damage in the attack. and is reported in serious condition at Phoebe Putney.
