ALBANY, GA (WALB) –Folks were lined up outside the Albany area YMCA waiting to get a jump start on their new years fitness goals.

For the past twenty years, the YMCA has hosted its annual open house on New Years day.

From 1:00pm to 4:00pm  anyone looking to get started on a fitness routine was invited to take a look around the facility and even work out if they wanted.

Those who stopped by got to enjoy refreshments, an open gym and even a heated swimming pool at no cost.

"If they want a tour we give them a tour or make tours available to them, they have an opportunity to use the facility as if they were a member," said Dave Wallace, YMCA Executive Director.

The first 100 people through the door today got a free celebration of the YMCA's 100th year running.
