Blazers spoil ASU home opener

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -   15th ranked Valdosta State couldn't miss in the second half and the Blazers pull away from Albany State 74-54 Thursday afternoon at the HPER Gym.

The Blazers hit 20 of 29 field goal attempts in the second half.  

Tyrone Curnell and Tristan Crawford both had 17 points each for the Blazers who are now 11-2.

The Rams were led by former Albany Tech Titan Truett O'Neal who had 14 points.

Sean Glenn added 10 for the Albany State men who are now 1-5.

The Lady Blazers snapped a three game losing streak with a 68-51 win over the Lady Rams.

Michelle Thompson was 5-6 from the three point line to finish with 17 points.

Brittany Daniels scored 13 for the Lady Blazerz.

Nafeesha Frost led the Lady Rams with 13 points and Callie Hamilton posted a double-double with ten points and ten rebounds.

Albany State falls to 0-8 and the VSU women are 5-7.

Albany State travels to Tuskegee on Saturday.

VSU opens conference play next Thursday at North Alabama.
