ALBANY, GA (WALB) -   The Albany State women's basketball team is looking forward to finally getting to play their first home game.

The Lady Rams host Valdosta State in the second half of a doubleheader Thursday at the HPER gym.

Head coach Robert Skinner and his team glad to finally be able to play at home after opening the season with seven straight road losses.

Coach Skinner says most of those games were close and he believes his team can win some close games on their home court.

The Lady Rams also believe home court advantage will help them avenge a 16 point loss to the Lady Blazers in Valdosta earlier this month.

"We played well against Valdosta the first time," said Coach Robert Skinner. "I wasn't completely dissatisfied with our effort. I think if we come out and put forth a little bit better effort and really control their shooters inside and outside. Then we will do a much better job this time than we did the last time."

Albany State women play Valdosta State at 5:00PM.

The men play the Blazers at three o'clock.
