Tifton preps to lose

Tifton, GA (WALB) –  Folks in Tifton are gearing up for the 6th annual Biggest Loser competition to lose weight and raise money for a good cause at the same time.

Organizers got the idea from the popular NBC TV show and made it into a fun way to lose weight and raise money for relay for life.

Last year 181 people lost a total of 1,879 pounds and raised $2,500. This year organizers changed it up a bit... they are focusing on couples.

All competitors are given resources for a diet and exercise plan. But not everything about the competition is just like the TV show.

"A question that we have a lot is are you going to show my weight like the show are you going to make me get up on a big scale and the weight is posted behind me..of course not your weight is kept confidential," said Biggest Loser Volunteer Sommer Dunston.

If you would like to register for Tifton's Biggest Loser, stop by the Tifton Fitness and Wellness Center January 4th between 9am to 6pm to sign up and weigh in.
